WinMail V1.1
Windows Mail reader
What is WinMail?
----------------
WinMail is our attemp to bring the Internet mail to Windows 3.0. WinMail
it is _not_ a complete uucp package. It is only a mail reader/composer that
rely on UUCP packages for the delivery task. Because of lack of information
on other package's mailers, WinMail will only work with UUPC/extended. We
will try to bring WinMail to other packages soon.
New features/Bug fixes
----------------------
o Aliases
o Code Page convertion for International WinMail users.
o Ability to read Unix type of mail files (no CR).
o Ability to send messages with included files w/o editing them.
o Better file handling.
o And too many bug fixes to print. 8-)
Special note about version 1.1a
-------------------------------
We found a major bug that prevented the aliases from working. All users of
version 1.1 MUST upgrade to version 1.1a in order for the alias feature to
work. If you've created aliases with version 1.1, you do not have to
recreate them, they will work fine in version 1.1a. We are truly sorry for
the inconvenience this bug may have caused you.
PC/Unix networks
----------------
Those running on Unix/PC networks may find WinMail 1.1 useful to read their
Unix Mail. As of yet, it is not possible to send mail in that fashion.
What you need to do to read Unix mail directly from the Unix systems is mount
the mail spool directory of the Unix file system as a drive on the PC. You
can achieve this task if you are on a Unix network and if you have PC-NFS(tm)
or PC/TCP(tm) on the PC. Then create a user with the User/Create menu and
specify the remote mail spool file in the mail box field.
Warning
-------
The DLL that comes with WinMail 1.1 is _NOT_ compatible with the one in 1.01
If you were using a previous version of WinMail, you must replace WINDLG.DLL
by the new one in this archive.
Most frequently asked question about WinMail:
---------------------------------------------
I have downloaded WinMail but I am unable to find rmail.com. Where can I
find this program?
Well, rmail.com is part of UUPC/extended. You MUST have UUPC/extended in
order to use WinMail and/or rmail.com. You can get UUPC/extended via
anonymous FTP on sun.soe.clarkson.edu in /pub/uupc. For more informations
about UUPC/extended, send a message to the UUPC mailing list at
uupc-info@sun.soe.clarkson.edu
